My background in sociology and current training in demographic and statistical methods motivate my approach to understanding injury fatalities. In particular, my research explores social and economic relationships with motor vehicle deaths at the individual and state level over time. My most recent work at Social Science & Medicine examines factors that led to a significant decline in motor vehicle fatality during the Great Recession. At Penn, I am concurrently pursuing a PhD in Demography through the Population Studies Center and an MS in Statistics through the Wharton School. Previously, I received my BA in Sociology from Rice University with Honors and Distinction in Research.
